Sterling is back from the Carmel Plein Air Art Festival. This was his third year there. Once again he won two awards: an honorable mention and the quick draw award. Last year Sterling won the emerging artist award. This year it went to Bryan Mark Taylor which was a surprise since we do not think of him as an emerging artist.
Sterling's honorable mention painting, Foggy Cypress, sold in the auction. Fo

r the quick draw, Sterling painted the sculptor Steven Whyte sculpting in the park.
Next up is the Los Gatos Plein Air Festival at the end of the month and notification whether we got into the San Luis Obispo Plein Air which we were in last year.We were invited to the Estes Park Plein Air and have decided to return for the first week since we did not get into the Palo Alto Arts Festival. We can't stay for the entire time due to Wednesdays at the Waterfall.
On the flip side, we did not get into the Mill Valley Arts Festival which we participated in for the last two years. We have decided to try out another new show in June: the Novato Art & Wine Festival. This will replace out the second weekend of Art at the Source Open Studios. The first weekend, we had already decided to try out the Sonoma Art & Artisan Show. This will mean a show every weekend in June, followed by Sterling's workshop. Then Sterling will be off to the Door County Plein Air Festival in Wisconsin, another show that he was invited to.
